Any medications that have not been picked up must be discarded before summer break begins (per Prince William County Schools regulation) . Also, remember that NEW treatment plans and medication authorization forms must be filled out by you and your doctor and turned into the school at the beginning of every school year. Thank you for assisting us in providing great care to our Bristow Run Elementary Students. We wish you a safe and happy summer.

American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Program

Bristow Run Elementary School has again attained the coveted Recognized American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Program designation.  While this is the third time BRES has achieved this distinction, this is the first time under the direction of Mrs. Leischner and Mrs. Snipes.  Also known as RAMP, this designation proves that our school counseling department is top notch!  Mrs. Leischner and Mrs. Snipes worked very hard to complete the application process using information from the previous school year to re-RAMP our school.  The application process is rigorous and proves that our BRES Counseling Department is making an exemplary commitment to providing a comprehensive and data-driven school counseling program.  RAMP applications are reviewed once a year by a national panel of school counseling professionals who assess a school counseling program in 12 different areas of program expertise.  More than 600 schools have been designated as RAMP since the program’s inception in 2004.

Mrs.  Leischner previously attained RAMP at her former school, Potomac View Elementary and has written articles for the national ASCA magazine about the RAMP process.  Please join us in congratulating our awesome School Counseling Department on this highly sought after achievement!

A message from Rhonda Jeck - Acting principal, Bristow Run Elementary
Greetings Bristow Run Family,

My name is Rhonda Jeck and I was just appointed as the acting principal of Bristow Run Elementary for the remainder of the 2015-2016 school year.  My first day was Tuesday, March 29 and it has been a busy start!  My days have been filled with getting to know students, staff and community members, and simply learning my way around the building.

As a new member of your school community, let me share a bit about my background and experience.  I come to you with over 25 years of educational experience in a variety of roles.  I spent my initial years as an elementary classroom teacher and later pursued a Master’s in Elementary Education with dual endorsements as a Reading Specialist and K-12 Administrator.  Following my classroom experience, I served as a Title One Reading Specialist and Data Coach for seven years with Albemarle County Public Schools in Charlottesville, Va.  For the last few years, I have had the privilege of serving as a school administrator for both Buckland Mills and Haymarket Elementary in Prince William County.

The collaborative work that I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of in Prince William County is what inspired me to accept the position as acting principal of this great school community.  I look forward to the opportunity to partner with you in making Bristow Run the very best it can be for our students; a warm and nurturing learning environment where all of us can flourish and grow.

Over the next few weeks, I look forward to connecting with as many of you as possible.  I believe strongly in the power of collaboration and am committed to creating an environment in which the sharing of ideas is valued and encouraged.  My door is open to you always.  I am eager to hear your perspectives and learn more about your individual and collective hopes and dreams for Bristow Run Elementary.  On April 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, there will be an informal “Meet and Greet” at the school.  I hope that many of you will be able to stop by to introduce yourself as we begin this journey together!

Please don’t hesitate to stop by the school and say hello.  You can also reach out to Ms. DellaFave in the office at  if you’d prefer to schedule a time for a meeting.  Or, you can send me your thoughts at

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
